InJourney Cares for Literacy: Learning and Playing with Sarinah

Jakarta, 24 January 2025 - To commemorate InJourney's 3rd Anniversary, Sarinah, an InJourney Retail, held a social program entitled "InJourney Cares for Literacy: Learning and Playing with Sarinah". This program is part of InJourney and Sarinah's commitment to support the company's Social and Environmental Responsibility (CSR) activities, with a focus on the education pillar.

Sarinah chose SDN 04 Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, as the location for this program. The choice of location is based on the school's proximity to Sarinah's neighborhood, so that it can have a real impact on the surrounding community. In this program, Sarinah provided 123 books for the school library, shared inspirational stories about dreams, and organized interactive games designed to encourage children's creativity and enthusiasm for learning.

Through this program, InJourney and Sarinah strive to strengthen literacy as the foundation of the younger generation's education. The program not only focuses on basic reading and writing skills, but also develops critical thinking, creative, and competitive skills. Sarinah believes that investing in education is a strategic step to create superior human resources who are ready to compete in the global arena.

According to Yudhistira Setiawan, Pgs. Injourney's Corporate Secretary Group Head, this program is part of InJourney Group's big initiative in supporting the education pillar. "InJourney realizes the importance of employee involvement in every corporate social activity. This program is a tangible manifestation of our commitment to creating a culture of caring for the surrounding environment. With this activity, we hope to broaden the horizons of the younger generation, motivate them to thirst for positive information, and foster public interest in reading and learning," said Yudhistira Setiawan.

InJourney and Sarinah work closely with various parties to ensure the implementation of this program has a sustainable positive impact. This is also in line with the government's Asta Cita program which aims to improve the quality of Indonesian human resources through strengthening education and literacy.

"As part of InJourney, Sarinah has a strong commitment to support the development of education and literacy. Through the ‘InJourney Peduli Literasi’ program, we hope to make a meaningful contribution to the community, including those around Sarinah. With book donations, inspirational stories, and creative activities, we want to foster children's enthusiasm for learning while spurring their creativity to achieve a better future," said M. Yaser Khalex, Corporate Secretary Group Head of Sarinah.

Principal of SDN 04 Kebon Sirih, Siti Soleha, expressed her gratitude for Sarinah and InJourney's contribution. "We are very grateful for the attention and contribution given. The book donation and creative activities carried out really provide

great benefits for our children. Hopefully, programs like this can continue to be implemented to support the education of the younger generation in Indonesia," he said.

As a pioneer of modern retail in Indonesia, Sarinah continues to demonstrate its commitment to community development through various social initiatives. The “InJourney Peduli Literasi” program is one of Sarinah's concrete steps in supporting education and creating superior human resources for the future of Indonesia.
