Osaka, Japan, October 7, 2025 – PT Sarinah strengthens its role as a showcase of Indonesian pride by participating in Osaka Expo 2025. Through its participation in the Indonesia Pavilion, Sarinah not only introduces 14 curated local brands, but also initiates a Sustainability Forum that highlights the company's commitment to sustainable business practices.
President Director of PT Sarinah, Raisha Syarfuan, stated that Sarinah's presence at Osaka Expo 2025 is part of its global strategy to expand market access for local products while strengthening Indonesia's image as a country with sustainable creative economic potential.
“Sarinah’s participation in the Osaka Expo 2025 marks an important milestone for Sarinah to showcase how Indonesian products now come with quality and values that are in line with global trends, including sustainability. This expo is not just an exhibition, but a space for collaboration and cultural diplomacy that connects local creation with the world,” said Raisha.
Sarinah showcases a curated selection of products representing four main categories: traditional Indonesian food and beverages, handicrafts, home décor, as well as souvenirs and accessories. The fourteen brands are presented in four display islands, designed by Sarinah to represent the cultural richness, creativity, and innovation of Indonesian local product makers.
In addition to showcasing products, Sarinah also enriched Indonesia's participation by presenting a Sustainability Forum themed “Sarinah's Sustainability Story: Empowering Culture, Sustaining the Future.” This forum featured three keynote speakers, namely the Director of Finance and Risk Management at PT Sarinah, Guntar P.M. Siahaan; the Director of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Osaka, Didit Akhdiat Suryo; and a representative from Artha Graha Peduli, Melani Sugiharti.
This discussion highlights the importance of synergy between the trade, financing, and community empowerment sectors in creating an inclusive and sustainable business ecosystem. Through various programs, Sarinah acts as a catalyst for the growth of local products by instilling sustainability values in every stage of the production process, which is then expanded through the support of ITPC Osaka and Artha Graha Peduli to strengthen market access and financing for MSMEs.
The Sarinah Sustainability Forum was part of the Indonesia Business Forum held at the Indonesia Pavilion in Osaka on October 7, 2025. On the same occasion, seven Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) and Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) were also signed across various sectors with partners from Japan and China, with a total investment value of around USD 4.53 billion.
The agreement covers collaboration in the development of sustainable industrial zones, the establishment of a food estate in the Riau Islands, the strengthening of the steel raw material supply chain, the development of a sustainable fishing industry, a maritime logistics center in Maluku, and the development of regional tourism between Japan, China, and Indonesia.
This series of signings serves as a powerful symbol of cross-border and cross-sector synergy, demonstrating the growing confidence of global partners in the potential for sustainable investment in Indonesia.
Through this initiative, Sarinah affirms its role in building an inclusive and globally competitive cultural trade ecosystem. Sarinah's participation in the Osaka Expo 2025 is expected to strengthen the company's position as a Cultural Experience Center that preserves Indonesia's heritage through trade, creativity, and sustainable collaboration.
