Jakarta, July 21, 2025 - Sarinah hosted the Wondama Bay Festival, a celebration of the cultural, culinary, and tourism potential of West Papua held on July 23-24, 2025 at the Ground Floor, Sarinah Thamrin, Jakarta. The event was organized by the Teluk Wondama Regency Government and was warmly welcomed by the public, with more than 30,000 visitors attending over the two days of the Festival.
The festival showcases the richness of Papuan culture, from traditional dance and music performances, craft and wastra exhibitions, to authentic culinary offerings. In addition, the exhibition area is also filled with interactive booths that introduce the potential of marine tourism and business actors from Wondama Bay.
"We are very pleased that Sarinah can be the venue for the Wondama Bay Festival. This event is very much in line with Sarinah's new spirit as a Cultural Experience Center that makes culture an important part of the visitor experience," said Raisha Syarfuan, President Director of PT Sarinah.
This festival is not only a regional promotion event, but also a symbol of cross-regional cooperation in strengthening the nation's cultural identity. Raisha said that for Sarinah, hosting events like this is part of a long-term commitment to provide more inclusive and inspiring creative spaces for local cultural expression.
"We believe that public spaces like Sarinah should be alive with Indonesian culture and identity. Through our collaboration with Teluk Wondama, we want to strengthen this cultural stage so that it can benefit local actors and the wider community," Raisha added.
The festival is also an important platform for Papuan businesses and creative communities to expand their market reach and build networks at the national level. Meanwhile, for the Jakarta public, the event provided a rare cultural experience, enriching insights and an affinity for Indonesia's diversity.
As a pioneer of modern retail in Indonesia, Sarinah is now transforming into more than just a place to shop. With a new spirit, Sarinah presents a retail destination concept rooted in local values, bridging culture, creative economy, and public experience in a sustainable manner.
