Encouraging the Quality of Tourism Actors in Cunca Wulang Destination, Sarinah, InJourney Hospitality and IAS Hold InJourney Hospitality House Training

Train 129 Tourism Actors in Potential Natural Areas of West Manggarai

Cunca Wulang, West Manggarai, July 2025 - Sarinah, InJourney Hospitality, and InJourney Aviation Services (IAS) continue their commitment in supporting the development of sustainable tourism destinations in Indonesia through the InJourney Hospitality House (IHH) program. This activity was carried out in the Cunca Wulang area, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara.

The training took place in two batches, on July 7-9, 2025 (Batch 2) and July 10-12, 2025 (Batch 3). A total of 129 participants from various backgrounds such as tour guides, homestay managers, and local community actors, participated in the training which focused on strengthening hospitality values through the Product, Process, and People (3P) approach, understanding tourist characteristics, communication to tourists, and destination development strategies based on local potential.

Located about 30 kilometers from Labuan Bajo, Cunca Wulang is known for its charming natural landscape, clear pools, and exotic trekking trails. Based on data from the West Manggarai Tourism and Culture Office, Cunca Wulang recorded 4,930 tourist visits in 2023, up from 3,865 visits in 2022. This growth emphasizes Cunca Wulang's position as one of the potential ecotourism icons in eastern Indonesia.

President Director of PT Sarinah, Raisha Syarfuan, emphasized that community empowerment is a key cornerstone in developing a sustainable tourism ecosystem. "Local communities are the first representation of a destination's identity. When they understand the values of hospitality and have a sense of pride in their culture, they not only welcome tourists but also convey stories, meanings, and a distinctive warmth. For Sarinah, strengthening their capacity is part of our larger mission to elevate local culture, strengthen the community's economic ecosystem, and bring it to the global stage."

The selection of training locations in the region is part of the strategy to bring HR capacity building directly to growing destinations, while encouraging active community involvement in creating a first-class tourism experience.

Through this collaboration, the three entities within the InJourney Group also strengthen their strategic role in shaping tourist destinations that are not only visually beautiful, but also excel in service quality. This cross-sector synergy presents training that not only focuses on theory, but also builds a mindset and attitude of service that is rooted in local character.

Corporate Secretary of InJourney Hospitality, Amalia Yaksa Parijata, sees the importance of building consistent service standards in every destination. "Hospitality is about creating a deep impression. It's not enough to be friendly, travelers also need to understand the process, pay attention to details, and maintain service quality. This training is a strategic space to align service values with tourist characteristics and local strengths."

In terms of connectivity and sustainability of the tourist experience, InJourney Aviation Services' Group Head Corporate Secretary, Agus Rosadi, highlighted the importance of HR readiness at every point of the journey. "The impression of tourists is not formed only at tourist attractions, but from the time they land until they return home. Therefore, trained human resources are an important node in ensuring a complete and memorable experience. Through this training, we want to ensure that the quality of service in destinations is in line with transportation and airport service standards."

The training was welcomed by the participants. One of them, Fransiskus Suhardi, a tour guide from Cunca Wulang, said, "We learned not only about hospitality, but also about understanding the needs of tourists and recognizing the potential of our own region. This training opened our minds and built our confidence to be better prepared as hosts."

Through the InJourney Hospitality House program, Sarinah, InJourney Hospitality, and IAS are committed to building a superior tourism foundation through improving the quality of human resources at the local level. Cunca Wulang is a clear example that tourist destinations that have great potential can develop more optimally when supported by a ready, trained, and confident community.

Going forward, the program will continue to expand to various strategic areas, opening more training opportunities, strengthening the network of tourism actors, and creating an Indonesian tourism experience that is not only beautiful, but also warm, memorable, and world-class.
