Sarinah Pioneering Global Retail Business Opportunities with Dufry, AG Switzerland and Omega Group Mexico

PT Sarinah (Persero) together with Dufry,a leading company in the retail travel sector with more than 2,400 outlets in 400 locations in 65 countries in the world,as well as the Omega Mexico industrialist group,an export,import,distribution and retail property management company,today facilitated and at the Indonesian Embassy in Mexico City,signed a MoU on Joint Venture at the Indonesia Latin America & Caribbean (INA-LAC) Business Forum.



On another occasion, in Jakarta, Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir who supported this initiative said, "I hope Sarinah can also focus on the curation and selection of premium MSME and Indonesian products, world quality and following market interests and tastes in the product category of a duty-free world. Sarinah, which will enter the international retail and duty-free market league, also needs to increase both institutions and human resources' capacity through the scouting process and learn world retail management from Dufry. For the first stage, I am targeting at least ten superior Indonesian products that can be marketed through this collaboration and it is hoped that there will be more opportunities for local products and MSMEs to go global."

Fetty Kwartati, President Director of Sarinah, said that this initiative is one of Sarinah's strategic steps to transform and expand into the global market in line with the government's vision through the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises so that SOEs not only export domestic products but also transform. By collaborating with strategic partners such as Dufry and the Omega group, the real world market gateway, especially in the retail and travel and leisure sectors, provides opportunities for MSME products to enter the significant world league players, and businesses people.

 

This MoU outlines several mutually beneficial business opportunities for companies, and the most strategic one is Sarinah as the only retail SOE in the tourism cluster and a supporter of pioneering international markets within the framework of multilateral trade. However, Sarinah must always carry the national interest and the national brand to foreign countries. This kind of cooperation model aims to realise this nation's identity, which is rich in diversity through showcases or exhibiting permanently in the world's premium retail markets.

Some of the other benefits contained in this Memorandum of Understanding are that an Indonesian Corner and House of Indonesia will be created in various outlets and shopping centres that are Dufry & Omega networks in the world.
